Common questions

No buses are showing on the map

CTtransit's real-time feed only reports buses that are actively in service. Late at night, on Sundays, or on holidays there may genuinely be very few buses running.

If you expect service and still see nothing, check your internet connection and pull to refresh. The feed occasionally goes down on CTtransit's end, in which case the App will show stale or empty data until it recovers.

Arrival times look wrong

Predictions come from CTtransit's real-time feed, not from us. If a bus is not reporting its position, the App falls back to the scheduled time, which can drift from reality. For time-critical trips, check CTtransit directly.

Nearby stops aren't working

This needs location access. Go to Settings โ†’ CT Bus โ†’ Location and choose While Using the App. Also make sure Location Services is on under Settings โ†’ Privacy & Security โ†’ Location Services.

The widget isn't updating

Widgets are refreshed by iOS on its own schedule, so the next-bus time can lag by a few minutes. Make sure you've saved at least one favorite stop in the App, and that Background App Refresh is enabled under Settings โ†’ General โ†’ Background App Refresh. Opening the App refreshes the widget's data.

Live Activity isn't appearing on my lock screen

Check that Live Activities are allowed under Settings โ†’ CT Bus โ†’ Live Activities. Live Activities require iOS 16.1 or later, and the Dynamic Island appears only on iPhone 14 Pro and newer.

I'm not getting arrival notifications

Enable notifications under Settings โ†’ CT Bus โ†’ Notifications. Also check that Focus modes or Scheduled Summary aren't holding them back.

"Ask" says it needs on-device AI

The Ask feature runs entirely on your iPhone using Apple's on-device model, which requires a device that supports Apple Intelligence with it enabled in iOS Settings. Every other feature in the App works without it.

A stop or route is missing

Route and stop data comes from CTtransit's published GTFS schedule feed. If something looks wrong there, let us know which route or stop and we'll look into it.
